Με τα “The Crown” και “Ted Lasso” να έχουν την τιμητική τους ολοκληρώθηκε η τελετή απονομής των Emmy Awards 2021 τα ξημερώματα της Δευτέρας 20 Σεπτεμβρίου. Η σειρά του Netflix που είναι αφιερωμένη στην ιστορία του παλατιού του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου απέσπασε συνολικά 11 βραβεία από 24 κατηγορίες που ήταν υποψήφιο (μαζί με το The Mandalorian). Εντυπωσιακή ήταν και η συγκομιδή για την κωμική σειρά “Ted Lasso”, που απέσπασε 4 βραβεία από 20 κατηγορίες που ήταν προτεινόμενη.
Το “The Crown” απέσπασε μεταξύ άλλων τα εξής βραβεία: Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Olivia Colman), Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Josh O’Connor), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Gillian Anderson), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Tobias Menzies), Outstanding Writing και Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series (Peter Morgan και Jessica Hobbs, για το επεισόδιο “War” και οι δυο), και Outstanding Drama Series.
Στην κατηγορία Outstanding Comedy Series το “Ted Lasso” απέσπασε το βραβείο, συγκεντρώνοντας επίσης τα Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Jason Sudeikis), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Hannah Waddingham), και Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Brett Goldstein).
Το RuPaul’s Drag Race πήρε το βραβείο Outstanding Competition Program, νικώντας τα The Amazing Race, Nailed It!, Top Chef, και The Voice. Βραβεία πήραν επίσης σε διάφορες κατηγορίες τα “The Queen’s Gambit”, “Hacks”, “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver”, “I May Destroy You”, “Mare of Easttown”, καθώς και οι Kate Winslet (“Mare of Easttown”) και Ewan McGregor (“Halston”).
